Mapping out the Cordillera's future: The CAR Regional Development Agenda 2010-2020

Where to the Cordilleras?  This question is partially answered with the release of the CAR Regional Development Agenda 2010-2020, a collaborative effort of the Regional Development Council with its development partners presented and enhanced in a multi-sectoral gathering last February 25, 2010.

The CAR RDA 2010-2020 presents CAR’s long-term regional development thrusts and priorities in the next 20 years which the RDC hopes will be a rich resource for proposed development programs and projects, as well as political and legislative agenda for national, regional and local leaders to advance the development status of CAR.

    RPFP 2004-2034

The Regional Physical Framework Plan-Cordillera Administrative Region (RPFP-CAR) is a long-term development blueprint that shows the desired direction and intensity of growth for the region from 2004 to 2034. The growth scenario being encouraged in the RPFP balances the need to fulfill the region’s functional role in the national economy and to ensure the optimum utilization of its physical resources. Thus it seeks to contribute to the attainment of national development goals while it pursues regional development priorities. The RPFP also aims to guide public and private investments for an efficient settlement pattern. This hopes to provide better access by the region’s population to basic services and achieve a rational mix of land uses that promotes productivity and safeguards environmental integrity.

NEDA-CAR Headlines

On November 28, 2011, NEDA-CAR had an unusual Monday morning meeting.  For the first time the staff had two regional directors attending the meeting with them.  Sir John, as fondly called by his staff, introduced the incoming Director, Director Leonardo N. Quitos, Jr.  The two were “exchanging places”.  By virtue of NEDA Special Order Nos. 347-2011 and 348-2011, Director Juan B. Ngalob, NEDA-CAR Regional Director and RDC Vice-Chairman will be transferring to Region I, and Director Quitos will be moving to NEDA-CAR.  For the outgoing Director who has been a part of the NEDA-CAR for the past 22 years, the air was filled with sadness and apprehension coupled with warm anticipation and welcome for the renowned incoming Director who was at NEDA Region I’s helm for the past 18 years
